NEBRA BOD and members:
My main reason for running for the NEBRA board of directors is that I want to give back & remain involved in the racing community while making every effort to keep road racing alive and popular.
My first road race was in 2012: Tour of the Hilltowns, and I got the race bug that has never left me since.
That race led me to being more and more involved in the cycling community. I joined the Northampton Cycling Club, became a group ride leader, then served nearly ten years on the Northampton Cycling Club Board of Directors in roles as President and Treasurer. During this time I continued to lead club rides on the weekends that I was not at the races. Additionally, I moved the club from paper records to electronic.
I stepped up to direct and co-direct The Tour of the Hilltowns Road Race from 2014 to 2022. Notably, in 2014, 100% on my own I had to make a major course and venue start area change to save the race.
I also am a USAC official and have worked at races the last five years. This gives me another opportunity to remain connected to the racing community, and a feeling that I am giving back to the sport, given the dwindling availability of local officials.
My main interest is to keep the long, hard road races in New England viable. That is where my main race interest is, and I hope I can help keep them going.
I have a professional background in Information Technology, so my skills may come in handy to assist with any current technical challenges and perhaps lead any new initiatives with data interchange between NEBRA, USAC and BikeReg.
I would love to increase my contributions to the cycling and racing community by serving on the NEBRA Board of Directors.
Thank you for your consideration.
