Chris DeHahn Statement
NEBRA Members,
If re-elected, this will be my final term as a member of the NEBRA Board of Directors, as we are
term limited as part of our bylaws. My reasons for running haven’t changed. I love this sport,
and I feel the need to contribute to the leadership of our regional governing body as long as I
am able.
My racing career started in 1981 at Wells Avenue, and concluded at Ninigret Park in 2015. 2025
will be my 11th season as a USA Cycling official at the local, regional, national, and international
levels. I enjoy seeing many of you at the races during the season, and also working at the races
you promote. I’ve also helped many newer officials by mentoring, advising, recommending for
advancement, and advocating for financial support programs to help develop the officials in our
region.
As part of the NEBRA Board of Directors, we work hard to support racing across multiple
disciplines. I feel strongly that any surplus income that we derive from operations should be
invested back into our local races by offsetting losses. If elected, I will continue to push hard for
more programs that help achieve this goal.
I remain deeply committed to bicycle racing in New England. Thank you for your consideration,
Chris
Kaitlyn Agnew Statement
My passion for cycling is multi-faceted—on one hand, I’m a fierce competitor at the national
level, and on the other, I enjoy nothing more than a relaxing maple creemee ride with my friends
in beautiful Vermont, where I live. I began racing in 2018 after a friend suggested I “might be
able to make a bit of money,” and after my first criterium, I was all-in (though not for the money,
as we all know). I started competing nationally in 2019 and am heading into my third season
with Team ButcherBox, a long-standing New England team based in Boston. Following each
summer of criterium racing, I set aside my road bike and dive into cyclocross season, where I
relish racing locally throughout New England and meeting so many of you out at the races.
Cycling is my greatest passion. Through my travels competing across the country, I’ve seen
firsthand the many ways a vibrant cycling community benefits individuals, communities, local
economies, and entire regions. My desire to serve another term on the New England Bicycle
Racing Association board stems from a commitment to keeping safe and competitive events
thriving in our region, with its rich history in the sport.
I believe NEBRA plays a critical role in supporting race organizers—both in calendar
coordination and grant offerings—encouraging official advancement, expanding opportunities for
participation, and recognizing achievements such as series rankings and the Hall of Fame. I will
continue to advocate for efforts that prioritize funding toward these goals and collaborate with
my fellow directors to identify additional ways usage of funds can broaden access to the
amazing sport of cycling and ensure competitive events continue to thrive.
Thank you, Kaitlyn Agnew
Ron Jacobs Statement
NEBRA MEMBERS:
I hope you will give me the opportunity to continue to serve on the Board. Bike racing,
now approaching 3 decades for me, continues to be a substantial and wonderful part of my life. I started racing at Wells Ave. and, in addition to continuing to race there, I often ride as an on-the-
bike marshal and mentor in the Novice race, the most rewarding miles of the week for me, helping to introduce bike racing to new participants. I joined the board to try to help foster New
England’s rich and diverse bike racing culture, and my first 2-year tenure as a Board member has
been educational and made me even more committed to try to do my part to improve racing in
New England. We need to get more promoters to put on more races, encourage potential racers
and nurture existing racers, and make sure that we have enough qualified officials. Two
pathways to help achieve these goals is to recruit and encourage new promoters and to use
NEBRA’s financial resources to help provide a financial safety net and support for promoters and
officials. We are making progress. I relish the positive working relationships that I have
developed with my fellow Board members, and I hope you will give me the opportunity to
continue to serve with them for you.
Tim Cary Statement
NEBRA BOD and members:
My main reason for running for the NEBRA board of directors is that I want to give back & remain involved in the racing community while making every effort to keep road racing alive and popular. I’ve enjoyed being a member of the NEBRA board of directors the last two years and want to continue to contribute to projects and initiatives that make New England the best place to race a bicycle in the country. My first road race was in 2012: Tour of the Hilltowns, and I got the race bug that has never left me since. That race led me to being more and more involved in the cycling community. I joined the Northampton Cycling Club, became a group ride leader, then served nearly ten years on the Northampton Cycling Club Board of Directors in roles as President and Treasurer. During this time I continued to lead club rides on the weekends that I was not at the races. Additionally, I moved the club from paper records to electronic. I stepped up to direct and co-direct The Tour of the Hilltowns Road Race from 2014 to 2022. Notably, in 2014, 100% on my own I had to make a major course and venue start area change to save the race. I also am a USAC official and have worked at races the last six years. This gives me another opportunity to remain connected to the racing community, and a feeling that I am giving back to the sport, given the dwindling availability of local officials. My major interest is to keep the long, hard road races in New England viable. That is where my main race interest is, and I hope I can help keep them going. I have a professional background in Information Technology, so my skills may come in handy to assist with any technical challenges and perhaps lead any new initiatives with data interchange between NEBRA, USAC and BikeReg. In the last two years I led the initiative to consolidate NEBRA’s files and communications into Google Workspace. I wish to continue my contributions to the cycling and racing community by serving on the NEBRA Board of Directors. Thank you for your consideration.
Derek Ludwig Statement
To the voting members of the New England Bicycle Racing Association, I would like to formally introduce myself and submit my Candidate Statement for your consideration. My name is Derek Ludwig and I currently live in Buxton, located in southern Maine near Portland. I am an avid cyclist and love all aspects of the sport. I think most of my friends would identify me as a roadie, but I also enjoy gravel and mountain biking. I have been a competitive athlete for the majority of my life. Being born and raised in central Minnesota, I began my athletic career on the ice with hockey, later transitioning to wrestling and football. Athletics ultimately brought me to the border of North Dakota and Minnesota to attend university at Concordia College, located in Moorhead, MN situated across the river from Fargo, ND. I competed as a college athlete for several years before ultimately deciding to hang up the cleats and to focus more on my education. Due to my competitive nature and desire for exploration and adventure, I soon discovered the sport of cycling and reestablished my love for the two-wheeled machine in 2017. I have been racing bikes ever since! Flash forward to 2020 and that same competitive drive and fond appreciation of cycling compelled me to share the sport with the local Fargo-Moorhead community by founding Flatlands Cycling, a performance and race-oriented cycling club with the intentions of promoting the sport of cycling in the FM area. Through the uncertainty of COVID we managed to establish ourselves appropriately as a 501(c)(3) in 2021. Unfortunately, my role with the club came to an end due to career opportunities relocating my partner and I to Maine. I am incredibly proud of the vision and determination I had to start Flatlands Cycling. Due to the hard work of establishing the club and taking the appropriate measure to ensure its success, I am happy to say that club still exists today and has continued to grow and stay true to its mission by bringing local events to the area, growing the sport and the community. I have lived in Maine since March of 2022, and we have finally settled into our new home. I once again have the strong desire to share the sport I love with the community around me. As an avid cyclist, founder of a successful cycling club, and lifelong athlete, I believe my prior experience makes me a strong candidate for this position. If I were to be elected to this role, I would intend to leverage my knowledge and perspective as someone who came to the sport later in life to help promote and introduce younger and new individuals to cycling. I would also aim to promote inclusivity in order to make sure all folks feel welcome and a part of this sport that we all love. Lastly, I would challenge the board and association to continue to think creatively about racing and organizing races in order to keep things engaging and to continue propelling the sport forward. I greatly appreciate this consideration and I look forward to the opportunity of serving this great community. Regards, Derek Ludwig
